The Brief

When Posture Pilates Studio in Nottingham set out to create a play café within its space, it wanted something that went beyond a conventional children’s play area.

The brief was to create an inviting, high-quality play environment that complemented the studio’s calm, considered atmosphere while remaining engaging for children and appealing to parents.

This called for a considered approach to ensure play value, visual design and the wider customer experience worked together.

Our Approach

We approached the project as a meeting point between play and Pilates.

A calming, neutral colour palette established a strong connection with the studio’s existing aesthetic, while a natural timber play frame introduced warmth and structure. A faux living wall brought an additional sense of nature into the space, reinforcing the relaxed atmosphere.

We also incorporated the Posture logo into the central reading seat. This subtle detail helped connect the play café to the wider Pilates brand, making the children’s area feel like an integral part of the venue rather than a separate installation.

The result is a strong example of premium soft play design: carefully considered, distinctive and designed around the character of its environment.

The Challenge

The key challenge was balancing two very different requirements.

The play area needed to offer plenty of features and opportunities for active, imaginative play. At the same time, it had to retain the clean lines, restrained palette and cohesive appearance expected within a premium Pilates setting.

Our design therefore had to work on two levels: delivering meaningful play value for children while creating an environment that parents would enjoy spending time in.

This balance is central to our approach as play café designers. We consider not only how children interact with a play space, but how the whole environment supports the venue, its brand and its customers.

The Result

The finished play café is a distinctive space that successfully brings together the worlds of Pilates, wellbeing and play.

Our client and local families have been delighted with the result, with the finished installation offering a calm and cohesive environment without compromising on play value.
