Since the outbreak of COVID-19 there's been an even brighter spotlight on the hygiene and cleanliness of indoor play centres. Whether you already have a soft play centre or are in the process of setting up, here are some top tips on keeping your play area clean, safe and amazing for your customers from a leading soft play supplier

  1. Consider a fogging machine to clean day-to-day

Using a fogging machine can be a great option for quick, fuss-free cleaning as there’s no need to wipe or rinse. Be sure to use a non-toxic cleaning solution that is safe for health and public utility sectors.

  2. Arrange a deep clean and maintenance visit every 6 months

This is really important for both the hygiene and longevity of your play area. Whilst you must clean your soft play area daily, a deep clean every 6 months will ensure your soft play space is as good as new and every nook and cranny is sparkling clean.

  3. Take particular care of ball pools…

Whilst ball pools are great fun, they can be a hive of bacteria if not looked after correctly. If you’re at the design stage of setting up a play cafe, consider whether a ball pit is right for you. If a little visitor has an accident in there, you will need to close off the entire ball pool and clean it before it can be used again. We use a specialist ball pool cleaner which is available to buy. Contact our team to find out more.

4. Anti-microbial material

This tip is especially relevant to those of you designing, planning or updating your play centre or play cafe. We supply state of the art anti-bacterial fabric that’s effective against viruses including COVID-19. Whilst research indicates viruses and bacteria survive longer on hard surfaces, soft surfaces like textiles can provide a large hosting area and benefit their carryover, which is why this fabric could be a great option for soft play items. Needless to say it’s harmless to the skin and body! Contact our team today for more information.

5. Clearly display your ‘Rules of Play’

We supply ‘Rules of Play’ artwork with every play installation, which is to be clearly displayed on entrance to the play centre and the play area itself. Some important rules include encouraging children to use the toilet and wash their hands before entering the play area, as well as ensuring shoes are removed and socks worn at all times. It’s important to note that you must adhere to local and national guidance and regulation in relation to COVID-19.
