Littles Lounge | Bespoke Play Café Design

The Brief

Littles Lounge envisioned a safe, immersive play experience with a dreamy aesthetic, designed around its brand identity. An all-white framework, complemented by teal, pink and light grey accents, would create a calm, cohesive environment while providing an engaging backdrop for exploration.

Maximising play value was central to the brief. The space needed to offer a broad range of physical, sensory and imaginative activities, including dedicated role-play opportunities and a separate, contained area for babies.

The client also challenged Tigerplay to incorporate a subtle reference to Boston, bringing a sense of local identity into the design without compromising the overall aesthetic.

Our Approach

Tigerplay translated the vision into a carefully considered play environment, balancing visual cohesion with a diverse range of activities. Cloud-inspired forms established the dreamy aesthetic throughout, with cloud-shaped wall pads, stepping stones, low foam wall end pieces and a hanging biff bash. Cloud decals applied to the playframe window reinforced the theme, creating continuity across the space.

To maximise play value, we integrated an extensive range of physical and sensory features. These included a ball mover, traversing wall, activity panels, peg and magnetic boards, tactile walls and infinity mirrors. A double-lane slide and open spiral slide, webbed and crawl-through tunnels, and a V-shaped rope bridge introduced opportunities for movement, climbing and exploration.

At floor level, steppers, a trampette, liquid tile, cloud stepping stones and a sensory swing offered further ways to engage. Three dedicated role-play huts encouraged imaginative, social play, while a rainbow-lit sensory tunnel added a distinctive moment of discovery.

A separate, contained baby area provided a more focused environment for younger visitors. Featuring a sensory light tube, fibre optics, tactile walls and a climb-in slide, it offered age-appropriate opportunities for sensory exploration and early physical development.

A Distinctive Boston Reference

One of the most considered elements of the design was the incorporation of a local landmark. Inspired by the iconic triangular form of the CITGO sign at Fenway Park, Tigerplay developed a unique triangular bay within the main play frame. The motif was echoed in the scarf drop tower in the baby area, creating a subtle connection to Boston throughout the wider scheme.

The triangular bay is a particularly distinctive design feature, developed specifically for this project. Its geometry gives the play frame a recognisable silhouette while integrating the local reference directly into the structure.

The Result

The completed play space brings together an exceptional breadth of play opportunities within a cohesive, brand-led environment. From active climbing and sliding to sensory discovery and imaginative role play, each element contributes to a space designed to encourage exploration and repeat engagement.

The dreamy palette and cloud-inspired detailing give Littles Lounge a distinctive visual identity, while the integrated play features deliver depth and variety across different ages and stages of development. The dedicated baby area extends the offer to younger guests, and the Boston-inspired geometry gives the installation a unique local connection.

The result is a considered example of play café design in which aesthetics, functionality and play value work together. Through bespoke design and careful integration of individual features, Tigerplay has created an immersive environment that reflects Littles Lounge’s vision while making the most of the available play opportunities.

Project Highlight: The Triangular Bay

The triangular bay is the defining feature of the installation. Designed specifically for Littles Lounge, it introduces a new geometric form to the main play frame while referencing one of Boston’s most recognisable landmarks.
