Before & After: Laundry room transformed into specialist Music Zone for The Children's Trust

Last year the Children’s Trust got in touch with us to see if we could do something with a disused laundry room. They asked us to create a specialised music room for the older children and teenagers with brain injury undergoing rehabilitation, and despite the tight space, we were able to provide just that.

We worked with The Children’s Trust’s music therapist to select the music equipment. Working in a small room, we wanted to make best use of the walls and keep floor space to a maximum, to stop the room from looking cluttered but to also allow space for wheelchair access. The desks are height adjustable to accommodate various chair heights too.

Our custom-made chairs are both stylish and comfortable.

Bespoke features include a sound-absorbing 3D wall, armchairs, white peg wall with shelving and a recording ‘booth’ corner. We offered a full turn key service providing the lighting, flooring, furnishings and decor.

The Music Zone received the Royal seal of approval last week when HRH The Countess of Wessex came to officially open the room and see how music therapy and this Music Zone plays an important part in the rehabilitation of the children and young adults at The Children’s Trust.

Dalton Leong, Chief Executive of The Children’s Trust, said; “It was a huge honour to have Her Royal Highness The Countess of Wessex join us today. Children, staff and volunteers were very excited about her visit, and it’s been great to show Her Royal Highness why music and our new Music Zone, generously funded by Simplyhealth, is such an important facility for all of the children here.”

Michael Faulkner, The Children’s Trust’s Project Manager who we worked with on the Music Zone, said “Sarah and Gary [Tigerplay] were easy to work with and were helpful and responsive to any queries that we had. They had very creative ideas from the inception of the project. The completed project looks almost identical to the concept art that was produced and has been finished with care. All stakeholders are very pleased with the work.”

We’re thrilled that The Children’s Trust are happy with the finished room and we hope the children and teenagers enjoy using it! Do you have a space that needs transforming? Contact our friendly team today to see what we can do for you.
